T-Ball Time!

The end of the spring soccer and the beginning of summer meant Avery was ready for her first year of t-ball!  Technically, she was supposed to have been 4 by the 1st of June to be eligible to play, but after a very brief discussion with the MRC, Avery was signed up and ready to play!  (It helped that Chris was planning on coaching her team regardless.)  The blue team had many, many practices, not so many games, but lots of fun throughout the course of the season.  Avery's favorite position was 1st base.  She also worried more about her ponytail than where the ball was the first couple of games.

Our team practiced every Saturday morning, and had games once a week.  We got rained out of one game, and our make-up game was canceled due to lack of players from the other team.  The blue team was ready!  And in spite of more rain and a muddy field, we still got a handful of teammates to meet that night to receive their medals.

 Another medal for the collection!

And her biggest fan!

A little batting practice at home.

Great Wolf Lodge

Following the the week after school ended, we took a quick trip up to KC to do a little shopping and stay at Great Wolf Lodge.  We'd never been to the Lodge before, so it was a pretty impressive experience.  We met up with Uncle Zach at Legends and did a little shopping and had some ice cream before it was time for check-in.

After checking in, the kids (Avery, especially) were pretty excited to see the room.  They've only stayed in a hotel one other time, so they were pretty pumped.  Avery had been with me while I was booking our reservation online and informed me that the Wolf Den Suites sounded a little scary to her.  She preferred the sound of the Kid Kamp Suites, so that decision was made pretty easy for us.

Checking out her bedroom for the night.

Posing with the bears on the inside of the tent.

Checking out their beds.

Out to dinner at Longhorn's.  Don't be fooled by the cheerful smiles.  Our soon to be 2 year old was acting a touch on the obnoxious side. Chris and I took turns escorting him outside so the rest of us (and the people behind us) could eat in some peace.

Sleeping in after a VERY late night.

 Didn't sleep in enough.

We made a quick trip through Cabela's also.  The kids had lots of fun running around and checking out all the displays.  Here's our tribute to Moose since we finally made it to KC!

Last Day of School!

May 16 was the last day of preschool for Miss Avery Mae.  To celebrate this milestone, her teacher had both classes come in the morning for some school activities, then everyone was chauffeured to Lindsborg to their awesome playground and park for a picnic.  Chris took the day off so he would be able to attend the picnic and keep an eye on Rylan since I had volunteered to drive Avery and some of her friends.

Ready to leave for school.  Lunch in cooler.

And some pictures of playing on the equipment.

I tried so hard for a picture with both of them looking.  Failure.

And here she is with the lady who made this whole school year so easy.  Avery loves her Ms. Becky so much and is very excited to have her again as her teacher for Pre-K.  Not sure how she's going to feel when she realizes Kindergarten does NOT involve this lady, but until then, she will love every second of school this year!

Spring Soccer Academy

Starting in the first part of April, Avery started the spring soccer academy through the MRC.  All I have to say is BRRR!  The first few sessions were very chilly, to put it politely.  When we didn't get rained out (which happened at least once a week for the first 3 or 4 weeks), we were all bundled up in as many layers as we could fit on our bodies.  The camp was only supposed to last through April, but because of rescheduled sessions, it was mid-May when we finally wrapped it all up.

Avery before the very first practice.

Everyone trying to stay warm.

She's a natural.  Unlike either Chris or me.  Neither of us EVER played soccer so I have no idea where she gets it.

At the last session.  They were lining them up to hand out medals and I'm not sure what Avery's doing.

Receiving her medal.  I believe her coach's words for her were "If I could give an "A" for effort, that's what Avery would get."

Showing off her medal.  Very proud of this little growing girl!  Avery did such a good job listening to her coaches and doing everything they asked of her, which is pretty unheard of in this age group.  She only stopped to take water breaks when the coaches told them to, and then she was right back on the field, ready to play some more.  She's already talking about playing again next year!
